Children's Easter Breakfast

A proposal for a children's activity at Easter was first made in January of 1989 and was approved as a budget item in May 1989. This first Easter Bunny Brunch was held on March 31, 1990 at the Firestone Shelter House with Francine Glennon and Terrie Pfeil as co-chairmen. Dairy Mart donated milk and ice cream. Juice, coffee, and donuts were served and a basket raffle was held. A profit of $615.00 was realized.

During the next eight years (1991 - 1999), this program was held at St. Bernard Church Hall and the menu was expanded to include pancakes and sausage. Baskets were made by members each year and were raffled off during the brunch. In 1994 Kathy Kuebel made a bunny suit for the event. In 1999 the brunch needed to be cancelled due to the renovation of the kitchen at St. Bernard.

In 2000 it resumed at St. Bernard but was then moved to St. Sebastian Zwisler Hall in 2002 and the name was changed to the Children's Easter Breakfast. In 2004 and 2005 this event was handled by the Christ Child Provisional Class as one of their projects. The profits in the most recent years have been about $1,600 each year.
