ACCESSS Bags of Essentials

In June 1991 the CCS Board received a request from ACCESS for a $5,000 grant which was approved in September. In 1993 our chapter contacted ACCESS, an emergency shelter location, regarding the Bags of Essentials that we could provide. Funding for this project was approved in May 1993 and in September 1993 Paula Canterbury became the first chairman of this committee. This project provides backpacks filled with essential clothing items such as underwear, a sweatsuit, personal items, etc., for children at the ACCESS Shelter. In October 1993 the chapter received a $1,000 grant from the NCCW Respect Life Dinner to support this project. The items for this project were moved to the CCS Center in the fall of 2001. The project continues in 2007 with Nancy Parks, Mary Testa, and Nancy Rice as the current co-chairmen.
