Twenty-Year Club

At the Executive Board meeting of January 5, 1993 Joyce May reported an interest among Sustaining Members who wanted to form a "social" group that would also contribute to the Christ Child Society. Nothing more was done with that idea until after the 2000 National Christ Child Convention in Akron.

In October 2000 Diana Lucia presented a letter to the Executive Board proposing an "Alumni Club" of our members. This was approved by the General Board on October 31, 2000 and plans were initiated to start the Twenty-Year Club. All those who had twenty or more years of membership in the Akron chapter were invited to join this social group to maintain their ties to the organization, continue their friendships and support for the chapter, and enjoy some shared activities.

Diana Lucia became the first chairman of the Twenty-Year Club. Invitations were sent to over 100 members in early 2001 and the first gathering of this group took place on February 27, 2001 at the Akron Woman's City Club for a Mardi Gras Luncheon. Since that time the Twenty-Year Club has planned four activities each year. Usually there is something planned for each season such as a luncheon, a trip, or the annual November Mass and Breakfast followed by an activity or project that supports the Boutique. The current co-chairmen are Elizabeth Butler, Mary Carole Daugherty, and Judy Murphy.
